Chocology for KS2 at the Eden Project, November 2016

The KS2 children had a very exciting trip to the Eden Project to take part in a chocology workshop.  For those children who had never visited Eden before, just the mere fact of being in such a a fantastic place was an amazing experience; for everyone else, it was great to learn more about chocolate from an expert and to see real cocoa pods growing on the trees inside the rainforest biome.  The children also thoroughly enjoyed exploring all three biomes to experience the different climatic conditions in each one.  It was an unforgettable day!

Class 3 make Friendly Plastic, October 2016

As part of their Science Week, the Class 3 children have been looking at reversible and irreversible changes.  As an example of an irreversible change, they made their very own plastic in the classroom, using friendly, renewable materials (milk and vinegar), which they have used to make into special mascots.  Look at the photographs to see the process in action!

Hot Chocolate, Mayan Style! September 2016

The first project for the KS2 children this year is all about Mayan Culture.  The Mayans loved their chocolate, but it was not like the chocolate that we enjoy today.  They made their hot chocolate with water and chilli!  The children tried this version with varying outcomes, as you can see from the photographs!

Class 3, Science Week, September 2016

The Class 3 children have been investigating materials during their first Science Week of the school year.  During the week, they looked at why different objects are made of particular materials; they investigated different types of foam and made 'elephant toothpaste'; they carried out experiments to find out which factors speed up the dissolving of crystals and they also tested different widths of elastic to find out which would be most suitable for the new Olympic sport of bungee jumping!

Leavers' Assembly, July 2016
