Remembrance Day at Doddi, November 2016

Mr Horton, who serves with the Royal Navy, came to talk to the children about the importance of Remembrance Day in honouring those who gave their lives in combat.  He also brought in lots of his equipment, so that the children could have a look at it all - they even got to try on his helmet and body armour!  They used light sticks in the darkened hall and also got to look at the room using his night-vision goggles.  It was a very informative and interesting assembly.

Mr Poole, who served in the Royal Navy, also came into school to ask the children's help in labelling the poppy crosses commemorating the twenty-eight young men from Doddiscombsleigh who gave up their life during the First or Second World War.  The crosses will be placed around the war memorial on the triangle on during the Remembrance Day ceremony.
