Gardening Club

This week in gardening club the children noticed that some of the things that they had planted had started to grow fruit or vegetables. The children were even able to harvest and eat some radishes! After that the children went pond dipping and managed to find a goldfish that nobody knew was even in the pond. What a great surprise!

Homeless Hedgehog

Today Jack arrived at school with a hedgehog that he found in his garage!  It needed re-homing and Jack thought that the school garden would be the perfect habitat for a homeless hedgehog.  Jack explained that we don’t know yet if it is a male or female hedgehog so we are a bit stuck with the name, it is either Bill or Laura.  Mrs Peters was very impressed with all the facts that the Y1 and 2 children remembered from their visit to Prickly Ball Farm last term.  We then made the hedgehog a snug new home and we home that he/she will be very happy there.  Wh

Gardening Club - April 2015

Gardening Club got off to a great start.  The sun was shining and the children had a fantastic time planting a variety of seeds, emptying the Ridan food composter, (all their fruit waste), and transferring it to the hotbox to decompose into lovely compost for the garden and they even had time for pond dipping.

Gardening Club take their teddies exploring!

Gardening club had a few extra members today... our teddies!  We took our teddies on an exploration of the school grounds and garden and used them to collect seeds.  Then we shook our teddies to get all of the seeds out so that we could use them to make more seeds bombs  We discovered that the fluffy teddies collected the most seeds.  We then celebrated all our hard work in gardening club over the last few weeks by having a teddy bears picnic.

Gardening Club

Gardening Club have been working extremely hard over the last few weeks.  They have been busy planting and caring for vegetables in the raised beds, maintaining our wild flower area and using the seeds collected last year to make wild flower seed bombs, weeding, making a new bug house, emptying the composter and of course pond dipping.  We were amazed at just how healthy our pond is.  We found 22 newts and 65 froglets as well as lots of other pond creatures.
