Children in Need Jungle Bake, November 2017

The Key Stage 2 children organised an amazing Jungle Bake in order to raise money for Children in Need Day.  They worked in groups designing their own stalls and planning which jungle-themed cakes and biscuits each child would bring in to sell on the day.  It was a magnificent success, well-attended by parents and friends of Doddi School, and raised an amazing £155 which will help other children in the UK to enjoy their rights.  Many, many thanks to everyone involved.

Remembrance Assembly, November 2017

Mr Poole came into school to give our special Remembrance Day Assembly.  He talked to the children about why poppies are sold and how the money raised goes to help injured service-men and women.  He brought in 28 small wooden crosses for each of the 28 local men killed during the two world wars.  The children worked in pairs to write the name of each of these men onto a label and attach it to a cross.  These crosses will be placed around the war memorial on the village triangle on Sunday.

Class 3 design Battery-powered Games! November 2017

The Class 3 children have been looking at electricity in their science lessons and took on the challenge of designing their own games powered by batteries.  The resulting games were original, interesting and great fun to play as you can see from these photographs of Mr Arnold playing two of them.

Doddi Art Show Preview Evening Event, October 2017

The Doddi Art Show Preview Evening was a fantastic event.  It was attended by hundreds of people with links to the school who were thrilled to see the fantastic range of art on show - there was even a display by an ex-Doddi pupil!  The current pupils gave an inspired rendition of La Cucaracha to entertain the invited guests and more ex-pupils acted as waiters and waitresses to help distribute the delicious canapes prepared by the Nobody Inn.  Many, many thanks to Mrs Beard and her numerous helpers who have made this Art Show such a wonderful even

Rights Respecting and Harvest Assembly, October 2017

Our end of half-term assembly was very well attended by many parents and friends who were treated to a performance from each of our three classes.  The first part of the assembly was devoted to the Rights Respecting Schools Award and what it means to us here at Doddi School.  Class 2 put together a wonderfully informative powerpoint about RRS and presented it to all the parents, staff and pupils, explaining exactly what the award is and giving an outline of the work we are all doing towards achieving it.  Class 3 had written a short play during their English le

Librarians Suggestions Box, September 2017

The Doddi librarians have come up with a great idea for sharing book recommendations.  They have made a special box in which children can put their feedback on any books they have enjoyed reading.  The librarians told the rest of the school about this idea and showed them the special box they had made, during an assembly.  This will be a great way of sharing tips on interesting and exciting reading matter!
