Doddi Village Fete, June 2018

This year, the school teamed up with both Pre-School and the Doddi residents to hold a Doddi Village Fete which was held on the Nobody Inn field.  It was a fantastic occasion!  The fete was opened with a special display of maypole dancing by the school children and then everyone had further treats in store found in the huge array of stalls that had been set up.  There were fantastic activities such as whack the rat and the football challenge, there was fantastic food and drinks available and the Year 6 pupils also held their Dragon Sale to raise much needed funds for our

Bovey Castle Trip, June 2018

Our KS2 pupils were invited to Bovey Castle by Iain Wylie who is the Estates and Activities Manager there.  We had the most fantastic time in the sunshine!  We met a number of fabulous birds of prey including an American Bald Eagle and saw a young hawk being flown for one of the very first times.  We then were taken by Iain and Vicky up to the deer fields on the hill opposite the castle, to meet their herd of fallow deer.  Many of the females had young fawns and needed extra nutrition to help produce milk to feed them.  To help them, we got the opportunity to f

Maths Challenge, June 2018

Our two Year 5 girls linked up with two boys from St. Michael's School to form a team to take part in the Maths Challenge at Maynards School in Exeter.  They took part in lots of interesting mathematical challenges such as the shuttle round where each pair in the team worked to get an answer to a calculation which would then help the other pair.  Of all the challenges, our girls really enjoyed the crossnumber round.  They came 11th out of the 19 teams that took part.  Well done!

GYOP Harvest, June 2018

We have been growing potatoes this spring as part of the 'Grow Your Own Potato' project here at Doddi School.  The Year 6 pupils harvested the crops from both classes to see which one had managed to grow the heaviest weight.  When they weighed the potatoes, they found that those of Acorn Class weighed 0.5kg whereas those from Oak Class weighed 1.5kg.  Oak Class are therefore the winners of this year's competition.  Lisa will turn our crop into a tasty potato salad for all to enjoy!
