Bradley Wiggins comes to Doddi!

After months of collecting small bits of plastic and three nights hard work, sorting, gluing, and having fun our own Bradley Wiggans has finally been completed.  He has been made from plastic which would have otherwise gone into landfill and we are very proud of the result. He is based on the art work of local artist Jane Perkins who will be exhibiting at our Doddiscombsleigh Art Show on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd of November at Teign Valley Hall.

Sports Day - July 2013

Despite the heat sports day was a great success. We all started our afternoon with a skills challenge, which involved tasks such as throwing the welly as far as you could, dribbling the hockey ball through the cones, jumping the hurdles, this gave every house some points We then all came together in our houses and the races began. We had short 25 m races 100m races and 400m races, we had three legged races, sack races, egg and spoon races finished off by very competitively fought relay races. After all that it was Yellow House who had the most points and won the cup!!

RRS Food Assembly

The Key Stage 2 children have been looking at the topic of food around the world and presented their work in an assembly to Class 1 and the parents.  They discovered that in some parts of the world, people do not get enough to eat and so organisations like Unicef provide help and advice.  They also found that it is very important to have a healthy diet and that some people in this country do not always eat the right types of food.  The children made a special powerpoint (which is on our website), acted out some TV adverts, placed model food on a huge eatwell plate and also gave the audience the opportunity to try some of our Doddi Peanut Paste!

The Key Stage 2 children spent three wonderful days at Heatree House Activity Centre in the very heart of Dartmoor.  They children faced lots of exciting activities such as climbing Hay Tor and completing a very wet and muddy stream scramble, and also faced the many challenges set for them during the game of Global Challenge.  The centre was fabulous and the staff there looked after each and every one of us.  We had the most marvellous time and can't wait to go back!
