KS2 Olympics at Teign School, May 2013

All the Key Stage 2 children took part in a very exciting sports event at Teign School - the Key Stage 2 Olympics!  The children chose two events in which to participate from a varied list, including dance, basketball, table tennis, fun fit, athletics and cricket.  The Year 11 pupils from Teign organised and ran each activitiy.  Our pupils really enjoyed themselves and learnt some new skills along the way.

New Play Area

Today was the first day we could use our new play area and it was very popular. First down the slide were Brooke and Fleur; first on the tyres were Quentin, Aaron and Josh. We know all the children will enjoy having an extra play area and are very grateful to the 'Big Lottery Fund' and Councillor Gerry Brook for their support.

Bailey the Barn Owl visits Doddi

Class One had a special visitor today... Bailey the Barn Owl.  Bailey is a captive Barn Owl that is cared for by the Barn Owl Trust.   Hannah, told us a story called 'The Wings of Change' which helped us learn about how the Barn Owls habitat has changed since World War I and the impact this has had on their population.  We learnt lots of other fascinating facts too such as how to tell the difference between a male and a female barn owl, the lifecycle of a barn owl, what they like to eat - we even have some pellets to disect!

Athletics with Exeter College, April 2013

A group of students from Exeter College came into school to work with the Key Stage 2 pupils.  They set up three sets of athletics activities on the field: running, throwing and jumping and the children rotated round the different activities.  They had a thoroughly good time learning new physical skills with this group of enthusiastic students.  Thank you Exeter College!

Forces in Action in Class 3, April 2013

Following our fabulous trip to @Bristol, the children in Class 3 learnt all about the different forces around us.  They carried out a number of investigations into the effects of some of these forces including one to find out whether objects weigh more when weighed in the air or when weighed in water.  What do you think they found out?  They also investigated which type of elastic would be better for bungee jumping!
