KS2 Residential

The Key Stage 2 children had a fantastic time on their three-day residential to Heatree Activity Centre on Dartmoor.  The sun shone down as they met many challenges: rock-scrambling on Bonehill Rocks; getting up close to tarantulas and pythons; scaling a huge climbing tower and then abseiling down the other side; cooking their own bread on an open fire in the woods; wading through primeval swamps and singing some very silly songs round a camp-fire.  It was great fun and the children certainly felt that they had received their right to relax and play … and also to get a good

Year 2 Camp

On Friday night some of the Year Two children joined children from across the federation for a Y2 sleepover.  The children had the opportunity to learn a variety of circus skills from silt walking to juggling to plate spinning!  Afterwards the children watched a circus performance and a Evie and Inigo were even asked to join in!  Then the children had a delicious BBQ supper before watching a film in the hall and eventually getting some sleep.  The children had a fantastic time and really enjoyed making friends with children in other schools.

Year 6 Sport and Swim Afternoon, June 2017

Our Y6 children had a fabulous afternoon at Dunsford School.  They were there for a swim and free play with pupils from Hennock and Chudleigh Knighton schools as part of their transition to secondary school.  They had a great time splashing in the pool using the floats and inflatables, and also enjoyed using the equipment on the field and playing in the woods.

Gardening Club

This week in gardening club the children noticed that some of the things that they had planted had started to grow fruit or vegetables. The children were even able to harvest and eat some radishes! After that the children went pond dipping and managed to find a goldfish that nobody knew was even in the pond. What a great surprise!

Potato Harvest, June 2017

Each year, we enter the Grow Your Own Potatoes competition, where each class tries to grow the heaviest crop of potatoes.  This year was, unfortunately,  no competition at all!.  The potato bags of Class 1 and 2, which were kept in a shady area by the school gate, produced very few potatoes, with hardly any big ones at all.  The potato bags of Class 3 were kept outside the back door of their classroom and they seemed to fare much better, producing far more potatoes of a bigger size.  The end results were:  Class 1 – 500g, Class 2 – 200g and Cla

Year 5 Maths Challenge Triumph, June 2017

Our fantastic Year 5 maths team, consisting of Louann, Alice, Samuel and Rosie, took part in the annual Primary Maths Challenge at Maynard School.  They pitted their mathematical wits against eleven other teams, solving difficult maths problems including a number relay and number crossword!  They had a great time working as a team to solve each problem and came third overall.  Well done Doddi mathematicians!
